INSTRUMENTATION
Ultra DP5 SAW Hygrometer

Features

  • High precision surface-acoustic-wave (SAW) microsensor.
  • Weight 4.5 lbs.
  • 12 Volt DC power requirement.

Benefits

Accurate Measurements:
The Ultra DP5 provides a direct measurement of mass condensation allowing reliable dew point measurement with an accuracy of 0.2°C. The Ultra DP5RH provides relative humidity measurements that are statistically better than ± 1 %RH.

Chilled Surface Reliability
The operating principle of the SAW dew point hygrometer results in excellent resolution and reliability. To measure the dew point, the SAW sensor is cooled until dew begins to condense on its surface. The dew causes a perturbation of the surface acoustic waves, which results in a signal to the control system. The control system adjusts the SAW sensor temperature to maintain a constant mass of dew on the sensor's surface. This temperature is the dew point and provides a direct measure of moisture concentration.

Low Cost:
The Ultra DP5 and DP5RH have the same accuracy as many chilled mirror hygrometers, but at much lower cost.
Minimal Maintenance Required:
The Ultra DP5 takes a new reference point from the SAW sensor every time it is turned on, and every 24 hours during continuous operation. This, along with the SAW sensor’s inherently low sensitivity to contamination, allows the instrument to maintain better accuracy and control over longer periods of time with minimal maintenance.

Portability
The Ultra DP5 is designed for laboratory or field use. Since the instrument operates on 12 VDC, a car accessory jack or a 12 V battery can power it. The control unit, sensing unit, power supply, and cords fits in a laptop computer case making the instrument easy to transport.

Easy to Use
The simplicity of the Ultra DP5’s design make it easy and intuitive to operate.
